Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Amazing circuit, thanks for the choice and the organization. Really hard combo. I was able to put together a decent single quick lap… (terrestrial dimension; for the aliens lapping in 2:08 i am just speechless) but consistency is just another thing. Again, i got fuel quantity completely wrong by adding 26 litres at the pitstop and changing tyres too. Nice experience after all, surrounded (briefly!) by very talented drivers.

Yes agree with that, quite amazing times. Normally there is a reason that by-passes us mere mortals. We turn up, do our best but are miies off the pace. Stunned by it all, but none the wiser.
So although you cannot be as good as a Alien, there usually is a reason. My solution is, put in as little effort as you can get away with, and wait for the next race and forget that one.:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

i can only disagree with that , if someone can do it you also can the only difference is in time of learning or some case car setup for that i generaly use the one shared as for build a good setup you need to spend alot of time in practice and spending time without racing atleast for me is boring thats why when i sit in my simrig all i do is join online race's . WSS / SGP / RD and other closed leagues there is plenty of choice to have fun :D

Although I respect you on the race track and on the forum, you are making the assumption that we start and are all on equal terms. We are not.
My life is full of observations on individual human achievements that are beyond my capabilities, but one thing that has always been very clear and obvious to me, when all is taken into account, no one person is better than another or more to the point any more important.
( kings and queens included )

It is just what was given to you at birth.

I consider myself to be a very lucky person, born in the Western world in 1947, No war for me, plenty of food, free health care, money to buy what is important. Unfortunately in my immediate world I was was not given that hand and eye coordination to excel at my immediate hobby of sim racing.
But I enjoy the battles, the racing friends I have made, a forum to expound my boring theories without anyone having too much of a dig, what more can a human want.:D:D
But and this is a big but, the fun is in turning up, not knowing what the race has in stall for me, is Han going to come off track or is he going to give me a whopping. :roflmao::roflmao:
I do not really want to be any better, it would not in any way improve my racing hobby. That is what I try and get across to anyone starting out on this forum.
Now if I needed to pay the mortgage and feed the kids on my simracing now job, that would be a different set of circumstances.:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

So it just gives me something to focus on, I know why I am slower but it does not stop me being inquisitive and wanting to put into an explanation, yes, I know that is probably not possible, but I enjoy the challenge.:)

as i said is the learning time the difference for everything .
Nope, we´ll have to agree to disagree on that statement.

If it was only practice time and dedication/concentration on one race per week I´d be leaving you crying in the dust by now. (Lewis Who :O_o:)

But inspite of all our efforts you still show up yawning, after a few practice laps take a nap through Quali, start from the back and hand us all our collective asses.

MAN, I´M JEALOUS, just in case you didn´t notice

How about " second lap challenge for Fulvio" where you start attacking after crossing the Start/Finish line for the second time ;)

That way your "turbo starts" would be nullified and the work fun would last longer for you.
(not so lonely in front after half the race. Also a little less frustrating for the "terrestrial" drivers :()

And there´s probably no excuse that your equipment would be far superior as some of us have very highend rigs (no need to make a statement here :p)

But if you really wanted to prove your point you always could choose a mid tier driver here and coach him to Fulvio level within a year :D)

Or even better hold open coaching events on RD to build yourself some competition :D

Friendship Carsten

I was going to have a go, but I spent so much time trying and failing to find the appropriate words, luckily you jumped in.

I will though mention the tireless 4 years of relentless studying of James Bond films and reading all of Ian Flemings's books, to get to the point; when I heard of Daniel Craig's possible retirement

Only to find after posting an image of my obvious James Bond appearance, and in-depth knowledge of all things Bond, it was just a matter of time before being snapped up.

Amazingly after all that hard work, I got rejected.:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

This guy has some great SIM videos. This is one of the more profound...

Nice video Colin and yes, Steliyan produces some really great content, plus his rig is awesome. The passion and commitment he has really shows, and this links in with what others have been saying above. You don’t know what you can achieve unless you really try but as Ernie says, sometimes ( for most of us) life gets in the way.
In previous videos, Steliyan shows that he is an ordinary guy with a ordinary (as he says sh***y ) job as a UPS driver but he lives to build his rig and practice.
In my previous career I used to work on a ‘continuous development team’ and the motto was....’If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got’ !
So I can see both sides of this debate, yes we should be able to achieve what we want if we are passionate about it and put in the hours, just look at the successful entrepreneurs in this world, but likewise most of us don’t/ can’t take that extra step/risk to achieve what we are fully capable of.

Reminds me of the movie ‘Lucy’ and I can hear Morgan Freeman say that ‘ the average human only uses 5% of their potential brain power’.

With that in mind I just need some mind bending substance to make me as fast and smooth as Fulvio. :rolleyes:Now where’s the Jack Daniels bottle?:D:D.

I'm keen to improve but it's knowing what to do different that's the issue!

I can pound around a track and get slowly faster but Fulvio demonstrates he has some demon technique that allows him to make us all look slow and very average.

I know some of the guys here are super quick so it makes Fulvios performance even more impressive

interesting, did a video of my lap and Fulvio side by side, one corner he gained over a second from his approach, which seemed counter productive to me at the time. So obviously I can say he and Thomas saw something I did not, so that is one answer.
Second answer, he gained time in some more technical corners by nothing more than edging out more throttle control out of the corner. I put this down to dexterity of application and probably a better feeling for the digital car at the limit. If you looked at his total time as a percentage that was additive, you would come up with a total figure of maybe 2 or 3 percent more throttle application than me over a whole lap. Probably a quantitive time off the brakes could be expressed as well..
Thirdly , he and Thomas have a knack of knowing instinctively how and when to brake , turn, and apply just the right amount of throttle, Allan is another source of information.
He too shows this in spades with the Mazda.. Admittedly being a chief Rotter helps to.:D:D
You just unfortunately cannot take that as just a corner he does better, because he then carries that all the way to the next corner, it becomes additive.
I have alway known this, but I just do not have the coordination to apply it, try as I may.
Plus I am an arthritic old git, not a good start.:O_o::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
My mate and I love playing pool, I give a good account of myself, he being a very good snooker player, ( 60 to 100 beaks being the norm ) always beat me, try as I may I could never win, without a fluke game.
He was also a top class, squash player, golfer, ten pin bowling, obviously it used to annoy me intensely, come to think of it he did the Times cross word in his lunch break every day, so he was probably as smart as well. He would just say hand and eye coordinating is the key. Some are given it some are not.

Nicely put and frustratingly true :(
Thirdly , he and Thomas have a knack of knowing instinctively how and when to brake , turn, and apply just the right amount of throttle, Allan is another source of information.

There´s a scientific explanation for that, may it be intuition or not.
Following Ross Bentley it´s just the (perfect) utilization of track markers.
This leads to perfect situational/spacial awareness which combined with god like hand/eye coordination than nets "perfect" racing line/braking/acceleration which adds up to frustratated competion (Joking of course)( kinda)

Again I state herewith that the knowledge of all the necessary techniques does not make you a top tier driver when you lack in the "manual skills department"

And we haven´t even begun to take mental state and determination into account which have a big influence on the outcome of races.

So, enough waffling about excuses, time to join the rat race again and practice..

I´ll go over to SCR with my spray paint and work on this marker theorie some more.;)

MFG Carsten
