My Race Report:
It was an intense race from Lap 1 on. Managed to qualify on Pole with Chris and Will not too far off. I was very lucky with Chris and Will battling it out from the start, resulting in a 5-second gap between me and them. As the stint went on, the gap shrunk to almost a second. My pit stop was pretty slow, I braked too early to avoid a SG30 and missed the red rectangle by a meter, resulting in Chris taking the lead for the second stint. I managed to close the gap, but couldn't get in a position to overtake, unfortunately. In the end, Will caught up to us, resulting in P1 – P3 being 1.5 seconds apart. The last lap was quite unlucky for me as I had to avoid contact on the exit of the 2nd chicane and lost a place as a consequence, but hey, that's racing ;).

Congrats to Chris and Will for P1 and P2 respectively ! Also, Douglas, I'm sorry for the unnecessary dive in Ascari, it was a misjudgement on my part.

Fantastic racing as always, see you all in Silverstone!

I've tweaked the point scoring so top 17 drivers can all get points (dnf or dq will get 0 if the settings on the site work correctly)

It was such a shame you had that issue in the pits, I was ready to drag race you to T1 when you came out! Just a note on the pit stop - everyone has a different approach to getting the correct position but I have it set like this:

In Options > General I have Pit marker set to OFF.
  • When I get in to the pits I change to bonnet camera
  • When stopping I line up the middle of the bonnet with the middle of the pit marker board
  • Hit the ignition key to kill the engine and roll for the last few feet and stop with the end of the bonnet roughly two chevrons up on the marker board (test this)
  • Change back to inside view
  • Whilst the pit stop is happening I turn the ignition back on ready
  • As soon as the car drops I hold the starter with my foot buried on the accelerator
Some might question the change of camera but it's so difficult to get it right from the cockpit view. It's a tip I picked up from some of the guys racing the ACCSS 24hrs of spa. It makes it more enjoyable as you don't end up throwing away all the hard work on track by messing up the stop (usually anyway, sometimes I still overshoot)

Great tip about killing the ignition as you roll to a stop. Having that!

Officially classified 15th. Just shows the value of finishing a race. I had a big crash down the straight, out of lesmo 2, resulting in spending 4 mins in the pits. Also my diy build 3d printed pedal lost its return spring limiter and became all floppy and loosly sprung and so I couldnt drive properly. I can't left foot brake right now, I've never bothered learning. I spent the last 10mins of last nights race suddenly learning to left foot brake with a really vague throttle. 15th, 2 points. Super pleased!

To be fair, any questions about the event should be posed in the thread, I’m sure Chris just wants to chill and enjoy his race like the rest of us.

In game chat not to be used anyway during race. Discord in practice would be good though.
Yes, I was thinking just if he heard anything that cropped up in practice chat that could quickly be cleared up.

Oops, I mean 3 points! Read it wrong in all my excitement...

Phew! That's all the admin out the way.

What a great opener, thanks to everyone that turned up. I kept looking at the track map after T1 and T2 and was stoked to see we all made it through - nice work!

Johann made use of Will and I battling for 2nd and cleared off in to the distance. I think this was our first proper on track battle Will? Awesome racing, plenty of room given and we seemed to read each other well. The Bentley grunt saw me into a solid P2 after some back and forth then my sights were on Johann. Little by little the gap came down but he darted in to the pits before his mirrors were filled with boat. I was ready for a drag race to T1 after my stop but his pit crew let him down and I had a nice lead. The second stint wasn't the consistent run I hoped for, my concentration was starting to go and my tyres pressures could have been a bit better. Johann and a charging Will soon had me in striking range but I managed to hold out for the flag with a nail biting encounter with a back marker on the last lap.

Great to read a lot of you had a good race and some nice battles. Even if you had a bad race or made some mistakes you'll learn from it and come back stronger at Silverstone...night race!

Yea indeed, lasted 8 laps almost. I was in 2 minds about defending especially with Johann flying on and being so early in the race (I think I only defended the inside once).

It did make those opening laps really interesting though:thumbsup:

Silverstone should be awesome, I’ve never driven it in the dark though, hopefully I find my headlight switch :whistling:

Regarding Discord - I regularly race on the AC multiclass on a Wednesday and it does work well there.

Push to talk is enforced which helps avoid the breathing or random background noise issues.

You can chat in practice and post race but not in qualifying. In race it's restricted to telling lapping cars what you are doing, leaving pits and the occasional apology!

I think it helps to build more of a community (especially for welcoming newcomers) but understand that not everyone likes it, are comfortable speaking to strangers, or it's not convenient where they are racing from.

For example, as Tom was on Discord last night I was able to apologise immediately race for my late braking, avoiding action and subsequent crash.

Hi everyone !

So sorry and so sad that I couldn't make it :( Had a personal emergency (nothing very important and very bad) but I came home at 22:30 UTC ...

Will be present for sure for Silverstone (can't miss it, it's my 2nd favorite after SPA :inlove:) !

I booked a shift in my planning for every Monday Night just for ACC, so no more missing races :p

Glad to see a lot of you had a great moment ! Can't wait for the next one !
