What a race, my friends!
My race was just to make it to the end without crashing into anyone or damaging my own car. I had only 40 minutes to practice last Friday night, and some 20 minutes before qualifying. I had no confidence in the car, especially on the turn in. One of the weakest points of my driving is the lack of precision on steering inputs. On this track these costs too much. The track banking counts a lot for the grip, so one really needs to get as close as possible to the inside of the kerbs, otherwise you lose too much grip. With my lack of precision, combined with how the car was set up, when I went conservative, I would not even hit the kerb and lose all the grip. When I was more aggressive, I would hit the sausage kerb and get to Mars before Elon Musk. The laps where I was aggressive and nailed most of the corners, I could lap in the low 1.24, but most of the time I was on the 1.25. When I did hit the sausage, 1.31. Luckily, I didn't crash into anyone, had only 2 spins, and didn't hit any barrier, so no damage at all.

Congrats to Enrico for the win and the others on the podium. Looks like it was an intense battle!

Hey! Not an expert, but something that helped me improve massively on turn in, is dialing in the trail braking. Allows you to rotate the car into the corner and not lock up. It feels counter intuitive at first, as you are braking less, but it slows down in a much more stable way.

Race report:

Having done mostly low fuel running in practice server, I spent most of practice running with stint fuel to nail down braking, and also practice pit stops.

Qualifying went ok, didn’t quite get to the times I’d managed in practice sessions, but still quite a bit off top spots.

Start went ok, got passed by Robert in opening couple of corners, had a nice battle with Will then just tried to settle into race.

Gained a few spots after T1 collisions, followed Robert for a bit and managed to pass him on corner before run up to corkscrew.

Then I just got my head down. P1 was gone, so just focused on navigating traffic and keeping it on track.

Managed to do that, no track warnings and my consistency rating in game jumped to 98 so happy with that. No doubt I benefitted from other mishaps throughout the race, but I guess that’s the name of the game.

Hey everyone! Not a race report as such as I’m not competing for top positions, so it’s more a progress report lol. I’m pleased to be honest, i go out each week intending to finish a race with minimal damage and successfully carry out my pit strategy. So my pluses this week were…. I got my personal best Laguna lap time during the race, did not get lapped by every car, managed to avoid any difficulty letting the fast guys through, and did an all time Yoda Jedi moment at the T3 accident! Literally threaded though all the car’s spinning and pointing several directions without going off track or clipping any cars but I did require an underwear change during pit stop . Spun once which I was disappointed about, but it was on the corkscrew so meh if it’s gonna happen anywhere it’s there. Thank you Chris for these great challenging races ! They are seriously great fun, and thanks to the entire grid for the tips and encouragement during practice servers and of course for your patience each week with the slower guys . See you all next week.

Awesome stuff! I enjoy reading progress reports and seeing drivers in our club hit personal goals and getting quicker.

I did that and helped a lot. I think that the default setups always have the brake balace too forward. The default aggressive for the Audi was 63%. I started with 59% and after a few laps was running 55.8%. To the end of each stint I moved to 57% to avoid spins due to worn tires.

With the Porsche, I drive with it bellow 50.
For this one, I started on 45, but went up to 47
