RENNSPORT Beta Coming This Summer, Prototype Car Teased

The wait has been longer than anticipated, as the start of the closed beta was postponed multiple times - but it is soon going to be over: RENNSPORT has announced that the first keys will be sent out in the summer, and more info is set to follow soon at the RENNSPORT Summit in Munich in early June.

During the ESL R1 Seminfinals, the first substantial update on the status of the closed beta since late January was given: It is finally going to launch this summer, and an exact date will be given at the RENNSPORT Summit. The event is going to take place on June 3rd and 4th in Munich. Sim racers can sign up to the waitlist here for their chance to receive a beta key - there are limited sign-ups, though. Half the keys will be sent out on a first come, first serve basis, the other half will be randomly sent out to the remaining racers who signed up.

More details about the Summit have been made available as well: While the first event of this kind was held as an invite-only event in May of 2022, the upcoming one is going to be open to attendance: Free tickets can be ordered here using the code SUMMIT23.

Community Tournaments in Munich

Plans for the Munich Summit include the ESL R1 Major including the best esports racers of the very first ESL sim racing competition that launched in February. The event is also going to be an opportunity to get your hands on the sim as well - community tournaments are on the schedule as well in addition to creator appearances.

The main point of interest for most should be the closed beta release announcement, though. As the start of the program had been delayed repeatedly, criticism from the community became louder as many felt the sim being available for the esports elite while leaving out the larger community was unfair.

New Cars & Tracks

More content will also be unveiled, as Morris Hebecker, CEO of Competition Company, who are behind the development of RENNSPORT, has recently unveiled in a podcast guest appearance. "Four or five new cars, and also new race tracks" are supposed to be ready to be shown in Munich.

One of the new vehicles was teased on RENNSPORT's official Twitter: The outline of a prototype race car underscores that the sim wants to set its focus not solely on GT3 cars, but other categories as well. No further hints were given in addition to the car's outline.

Your Thoughts

Are you looking forward to the RENNSPORT beta? What car do you think was teased? Let us know in the comments!

as long as there's no granddaddy era cars to destroy a modern race title appeal....anyone looking for driving their grandparents car should make a game for themselves...i have had enough with 60s 70s and 80s in AMS2

Well... its whats relevant, marketable, licensable right now...

They are a company after all, looking to... you know... make money.
Usually to get a success, it's better to do something different than others, not piggy back on current trends. That's just a short term solution. Look how long it took ACC to become something that's worth being in every simracers library. Who want's to experience the same improvement cycle again with GT cars, if they already have perfected ACC?

The way Rennsport is promoting its product is so boring and makes me somehow angry... You only get information via youtubers and very few information ("new tracks?" what the hell... did anyone expect the three existing are all they will offer?)
I subscribed for testing, but with only GT3 Cars its only a kind of ACC2. But who knows... They do not offer any interesting information than just: there will be a beta with access keys...
The way Rennsport presents itself in the media gave me only reasons NOT to buy it due to this weird way of trying to get attention...

Yes unfortunately, I know. Ridiculous! You would have to put VR glasses on all pro drivers and let's see who can simulate racing properly and who is the best!
I’m quite sure a lot of pro drivers tried VR, actually I do know a pro driver that tried it, thought it was a cool equipment but still preferred the triple screen

A lot of the pro rigs also have motion... im sure it would feel extremely rough wearing a headset without being able to lock your eyes to a real physical object

Yes, I can tell you exactly why. Because the pro drivers are more concerned with getting every tenth of their speed out of it than with the greatest immersion and unfortunately not with the even better simulation of reality.

Actually exactly the opposite of how the Sim SPORT got big. I've been doing sim sports for 15 years, and we always wanted more reality, even if it was demanding and difficult.
Now we have VR with real 3D and depth effect and the "pro" riders prefer to ride triple than the demanding VR. I'll stick with it, ridiculous to me. Sorry!

The point is that they have tried and made their informed decision just like other racers switching back to monitors.

I hope they deliver something good. The winning formula is iracing. As long as people are willing to pay for that it's a cash machine. The important thing will be how they market it and how many YouTube influencers they manage to entice. This is a bit sad but in the end that's how it works and how iracing makes money. The money is there, you just need to convince people that your offer is the best. There are lots of good sims out there but in terms of revenue iracing rules them all.
This I hope will be a good alternative and hopefully a more affordable one. Let's see. The community is a bit toxic so unfortunately it's easy to go wrong for the wrong reasons.
