Let's dive into something different for a change! A racing event where you don't have to buy the game, a car or a track! Just download Raceroom Racing Experience gratis / for free, if you haven't installed it already, and then post in this thread to get access to the event!

This event is free for everyone, whether you're a premium user or a "rookie" interested in racing online with some great and welcoming drivers!

@Kenny Paton and myself will be hosting this event, and we're happy to assist you in any way we can!

We will drive the Aquila CR1 Sports GT car on the Portimao GP Circuit. This quick car is a real joy over those ups and downs of this wonderful flowing track!

Format:
18.00 UTC / 19.00 BST / 20.00 CEST: 60 minutes practice (optional)
19.00 UTC / 20.00 BST / 21.00 CEST: 15 minutes qualifying
after that it's up to YOU:

either 2x20 minutes race (2nd race with reverse grid)
or 1x30 minutes race

(When posting to register, please also add your preferred choice!)

Register now, by posting below! It doesn't matter whether you're usually an AC / ACC / AMS2 / iRacing / RF2 driver or your favourite sim is already R3E!

Let's fill up the grid, so we can have a ton of fun together next Thursday!

There will be a practice server up from tomorrow but on the night 60 minutes practice with 15 qualifying and a either one 30 minute race or 2 X 20 ones. Let us know which you'd prefer.
Kicking off at 18:00 UTC (19:00 BST)
Usual club rules when racing apply.

I hope there will be plenty of that free beer, because my first contact with RRe is less than stellar.

(Which is on me, I concentrated on AC since beginning SimRacing three years ago.

So I'll try some more to get around the numb FFB, the complicated setup structure of RRe and especially this freakingly involved car setup.

Any chance someone could provide us with a working Base setup?)

I'm a noob as well in R3E, but I just love to try something new, and this sim has in my opinion some awesome force feedback, and the SOUNDS of those cars! The SOUNDS!

@Kenny Paton - do you have any setup suggestions? (I will just use the default one and enjoy the ride)

I´m with you on the sounds, really great.

About learning something new, my excuse is "I´m to old for this

" which has been my catch phrase since playing Bundes Liga paintball in the early 2000´s.

(I was in my 30´s then)
("was der Bauer nicht kennt...")

The FFB doesn´t click with me yet, but I just remembered that I havn`t tried the RRe preset of my wheel yet.
The tactile setup over simhub helps, but that needs work too.

This car I really don´t like, this onpower understeer reminds of the worst FWD experiences I hat in Simracing. Shame we can´t aero it out, I don´t know enough about suspension setup to get this thing to drive nicely. Hopefully a nice pal can help us out there....

Addendum:

If you want this thing to drive somehow like an mid engine V8 kill the overzealous traction control. With TC full it drives like a f...Ing Golf

I'm pretty well out of touch myself, having hardly touched my wheel since my fall last summer, my knees and shoulders don't allow me to spend much time.(nor does my wife who listened to what the doctor said

)
I wouldn't worry as I suspect no one will be slower than me.

Guys I have a problem here, been on the practice server 6 times in a row and it kicked me off at either the second to last or last corner each time citing too high a ping and to further complicate the problem I lose all FFB which can only be resolved by a full reboot

My ping is only 28ms so hardly bad. I'm trying to resolve but needless to say I won't be able to race if this persists

No problem in SP and can join and stay on other servers ok, all other sims working as normal.

I'm not a my pc but will try to check the server as soon a possible.
The ping should be set at 500ms so that shouldn't be the problem.

I've restarted the server several times but it's not showing in the game so not sure what the problem is.
