BTCC 2022.jpg

To celebrate the start of the best week of the year - the Eurovision Song Contest week - we will race an event based on the host city. Liverpool will be hosting the Final on the 13th May on behalf of Ukraine, so we will take the Premier British motor racing series - the BTCC - to the nearest track to the Arena - Oulton Park. The hilly and narrow circuit is super hard on the brakes, and has plenty of good locations to use the Hybrid out of, making tactical usage of the system even more valuable to the race.

Eligibility: You must be a PREMIUM member. You must also use your REAL NAME on all RD servers and Discord, and include this in your forum profile. It is the only way of identifying who you are during an event.

Hybrid Boost explanation
On launch, you will need to map your ‘Push to Pass’ button found in the Settings screen in the UI, under the Powertrain heading. On the dashboard of the BTCC cars, you will see the various information fields related to the hybrid status. For reference, this boost feature comes with a number of variables you will need to consider when racing on track:
  • Time limit for activations is 15s per lap
  • Boost only enables from 3rd gear onwards
  • Boost remains active so long as the player keeps the boost button depressed – up to a maximum of 15s
  • A minimum delay of 2s exists between activations (including once passing the start/finish line)
  • Boost will disengage once the player passes the start/finish line
The LCD dashboard display presents all the relevant information, such as the number of seconds deployment on the current lap, number of deployments on that lap, battery and motor temperature, hybrid deployment bars, and activation status.

Additional, and important info:
- Make sure your throttle pedal is a 0% when braking for proper recharge of hybrid.
When we did the BTCC race at Monza, my throttle was at 1% when I was off it, which isn't really a major thing generally, but making it register throttle at a bit more input, meaning that it was actuall 0% when I was off, made the batteries recharge more under braking to T1 at Monza, than it did over a whole lap when the throttle was sticking at 1%.

I think this might be a bit of the reason why some (including me) struggled a lot with battery power running out at Knockhill when we first used the hybrid!

Nah mate, it'd just make you hate understeer even more :p

Jokes aside, Edward's setup for the Honda should be a very good starting point but there's nothing you can do to keep from understeering on exit, its why I hate FWD cars.

Soft front springs and stiff rear springs is the first thing to play with. You want the front to squish into the ground and the rear to effectively "hop" around corners. Of you aren't lifting a rear wheel, your rear isn't stiff enough
