RENNSPORT Beta Coming This Summer, Prototype Car Teased

The wait has been longer than anticipated, as the start of the closed beta was postponed multiple times - but it is soon going to be over: RENNSPORT has announced that the first keys will be sent out in the summer, and more info is set to follow soon at the RENNSPORT Summit in Munich in early June.

During the ESL R1 Seminfinals, the first substantial update on the status of the closed beta since late January was given: It is finally going to launch this summer, and an exact date will be given at the RENNSPORT Summit. The event is going to take place on June 3rd and 4th in Munich. Sim racers can sign up to the waitlist here for their chance to receive a beta key - there are limited sign-ups, though. Half the keys will be sent out on a first come, first serve basis, the other half will be randomly sent out to the remaining racers who signed up.

More details about the Summit have been made available as well: While the first event of this kind was held as an invite-only event in May of 2022, the upcoming one is going to be open to attendance: Free tickets can be ordered here using the code SUMMIT23.

Community Tournaments in Munich

Plans for the Munich Summit include the ESL R1 Major including the best esports racers of the very first ESL sim racing competition that launched in February. The event is also going to be an opportunity to get your hands on the sim as well - community tournaments are on the schedule as well in addition to creator appearances.

The main point of interest for most should be the closed beta release announcement, though. As the start of the program had been delayed repeatedly, criticism from the community became louder as many felt the sim being available for the esports elite while leaving out the larger community was unfair.

New Cars & Tracks

More content will also be unveiled, as Morris Hebecker, CEO of Competition Company, who are behind the development of RENNSPORT, has recently unveiled in a podcast guest appearance. "Four or five new cars, and also new race tracks" are supposed to be ready to be shown in Munich.

One of the new vehicles was teased on RENNSPORT's official Twitter: The outline of a prototype race car underscores that the sim wants to set its focus not solely on GT3 cars, but other categories as well. No further hints were given in addition to the car's outline.

Your Thoughts

Are you looking forward to the RENNSPORT beta? What car do you think was teased? Let us know in the comments!

Every new sim is good for our niche at first and it remains to be seen what Rennsport will eventually offer. If they only focus on modern GTs and prototypes (which I assume will be for the time being) then it will remain uninteresting to me. But you have to wait.

Ah yes, another modern car that we don't have anywhere else, because nobody thought of that.

Developers can make any car you want and allow people to experience historic eras of motorsport, and also help history live on in digital format. But instead everyone focuses on what's "hot" now and todays sponsors, and esports. Sad.

I suspect that even the slightest problems with physics or gamplay, or online will immediatelly turn people away, because there will not be anything else in Rennsport on offer if it keeps the only GT3/WEC content course.

"Bug off, I'm stuffed" I'll ditto as the infamous quote from a certain movie.

No more beta blockers, thanks.

No more senseless endless half-baked repair updates-for-eternity titles, thanks.

No to more titles pushed through by monkey marketing stunts and 'appearances' at Zirrkuzz Expos, leaving completely unbaked dough to the consumers.

Yes to a fully finished thought through flawless title. Which is ready for delivery on DVD or CD as was the case titles from those decades of which still exists healthy and active sim communities today. Not b/c today's consumers would use this way, but just as an evidence of a fully finished product.

Yes to a sim title delivering something completely new and extraordinary refreshing and rewarding for us simmers.

So what do we think the teased car is in the screenshot? I have a hard time finding anything that matches the way the mirrors are mounted on the cabin instead of the wheel covers.

Well as far as I can see the only clone of ACC is.... ACC. Everything else that offers GT offers it as part of a much larger selection. ACC is still the only sim laser focused on pure GT racing.

That said I'm probably not going to bother with Rennsport, at least not at the beginning.

Yay, yet another ACC clone. Out of hundreds of cars which made history in existence, "if you want to make it, go with GT3". Definitely not a purchase for me, Rennsport!
Well... its whats relevant, marketable, licensable right now...

They are a company after all, looking to... you know... make money.

Looking for the Mission R in ACC... cant find it....

ACC is the best GT3 GT4 ...and Rennsport like AMS 2 are trying to eat the cake, but sorry, Kunos has already all eaten.

I'm just not sure what this is ultimately bringing to the table that will make it sell. It will need a decent amount of tracks to interest me if the car count isn't very high.

I'd rather see what Bell comes up with sticking to a certain period of motorsport like 1974 WSC.

I feel like they started the hype over their own game way too early in the development phase, if it takes them long enough AC2 is going to come into the picture and AC2's hype could kill Rensport's momentum on the spot. Also using unreal engine I believe that unless they may have rewritten a lot of UE code they are doomed to collide with with the incredibly noisy and always unsatisfied VR crowd and the people that hate UE blurriness. I hope for their sake that the physics engine end up being ground breaking.

I'm pretty sure that modern GT cars (and probably prototypes) + a decent online structure is enough for the majority of simracers. If Rennsport manages to price well below Iracing then surely they get a lot of customers.
