Welcome to the RD Racing Club.

This week we're going to the land of the rising sun. The Fuji Speedway is located 40 miles west of Yokohama in the shadow of Mount Fuji, a cone-shaped dead volcano. The most striking feature of the 4.563 km long circuit is the long opening straight and the fast corner leading up to it.

Four Formula 1 Grands Prix were held, those of 1976, 1977, 2007 and 2008. In 1977, two spectators were killed when Gilles Villeneuve's car ended up in a restricted area after a collision with Ronnie Peterson.

Especially the new and inexperienced drivers are recommended to participate. There are a lot of learning opportunities but without the intensity and stress of the GT3/4 cars or the endurance multiclass cars. It's also good step up for those kind of events.

Signed up and had some practice, happy with my line, pace can improve... yet I am yet uncertain if I'll be able to race on wednesday. Hope I can make it back home on time. :coffee: Would hate to miss it. Short but fun track! I can only imagine how Fuji was in '76 in the torrential rain without those chicanes...

Finally got some time to try out the track and... what a fun little track!

I think my lesson for this track will be racing line: in some of the corners if you take the wrong one it can be quite unforgiving. Or maybe it's just a skill problem, but either way that's what I will be focusing on this Wednesday evening.

See you on track!

What a fun track!

I decided to finally switch to Abarth, and looks like I've got a lot to learn, starting from figuring out a decent setup. Doing a setup for a FWD car is something quite new to me... :notworthy:
Yes, setup is very important for the Abarth. If you manage to make it less "twisty" it becomes a very fun car to drive. Much more challenging than the Mazda and even with a better setup it will hold an understeery characteristic which is quite normal for FWD. On most tracks the Mazda is slightly faster but the Abarth is faster on the straight which makes it hard for Mazda to overtake if the Abarth driver can defend in the turns.

In one of the threads of recent multiclass events John Power has shared a very good setup for the Abarth imo.

This track definitely favours the Abarth, especially with the long run down to T1 from the start line.

Thanks, I'll look for John's setup.
I think that the Abarth is a very fun car to drive even with a bad setup, but being fun AND fast is the goal :D
