All 1995 Driver & Team Changes

The driver lineups of the 1995 season were not as stable as they were in recent years in Formula 1. Numerous changes took place during the year, which are all reflected in the 1996 PS1 game - with one exception, although that is not technically a driver swap but simply one driver not starting a Grand Prix.

San Marino Grand Prix
  • Nigel Mansell replaces Mark Blundell at McLaren
Spanish Grand Prix

Monaco Grand Prix
  • Mark Blundell is back in the McLaren, replacing Nigel Mansell
  • Jean-Christophe Bouillon steps in for Karl Wendlinger at Sauber. The Austrian had suffered a terrible crash at the 1994 Monaco GP that put him in a coma, after which he never got back up to speed and the enormous promise he had showed before.
Canadian Grand Prix
  • Simtek had gone bankrupt after the previous round, meaning the team and its drivers Domenico Schiattarella and Jos Verstappen would not appear for the remainder of the season.
British Grand Prix
  • Massimiliano Papis took over from Gianni Morbidelli at Footwork due to sponsorship reasons.
German Grand Prix
  • Giovanni Lavaggi took Bertrand Gachot's seat at Pacific to make his F1 debut at 35 years of age, which made him the oldest driver on the grid at the time.
  • Aguri Suzuki was back for Ligier in place of Martin Brundle.

Portuguese Grand Prix
  • Giovanni Lavaggi vacated his Pacific seat for Jean-Denis Delétraz after retiring from all four races he had started.
European Grand Prix
  • After Ukyo Katayama rolled his Tyrrell at the start of the Portuguese Grand Prix, he had to sit out the Nürburgring round due to light injuries. Gabriele Tarquini filled in for the Japanese driver.

Japanese Grand Prix
  • A recovered Mika Häkkinen took back his McLaren seat from Jan Magnussen.
